Wow, a whole year has gone by since I became a member in a growing less exclusive club. I still can't believe sometimes that I had TWO babies at the same time. It still amazes me. They amaze me. They have grown from little tiny helpless babies to two active toddlers. Though Lucy isn't walking unassisted yet, she has taken about four steps on her own so far. Frankie is just going ahead full steam and is a bit advanced in my opinion. Thinking back on Matthew and Serra, they weren't walking and running on their first birthdays. Lucy is a climber like her sister though. She was the first one to figure out how to climb up on the ride on toy and she was actually hanging halfway up the play yard side on her toes the other day. She did that with the ride on toy too though. Stepped off it and hooked her toes in. She was so proud of herself.
Lucy is starting to talk too. She says "Ow" when she wants out of her crib or play yard or high chair....or anything really, lol. She says Mommy and Daddy and puppy and i'm pretty sure she said Daisy the other day. I have heard her say Grandpa a couple times too. She's figured out that if Mommy is walking by and she would like more Cheerios in her bowl, she just has to pick it up and hand it to me. Frankie is taking his time more with the talking. Though he also says Mommy and Daddy, his are still more Mama and Dada and of course he says Nigh nigh when he's ready for bed or a nap. I guess he says that when he wants a bottle too. Speaking of bottles. Lucy hasn't had a bottle in a month and a half. She is still drinking a little bit of formula, but she does so from a sippy cup. Frankie still needs one at bedtime. He really complains most nights if you try to put him to bed with out one. We're getting there and next month, they should be completely off the formula. Nice!
They have gotten to the stage too where they look like little miniature people now and not so much like babies. They are toddlers for sure. The 18 month clothes they got for their birthday fit them pretty good. The sleeves and pant legs are still a tad long, but not in a bad way.
Both babies have been giving hugs. Frankie especially loves to give hugs. He has always been the more lovey of the two of them. He has also discovered the joys of music. He's been interested in rhythm and drumming for a while now, but now he's started dancing. He loves to dance! Grandma has been playing a lot of country music this last week that he's been dancing to. Monday I will have the house to myself for a few hours so I told him we would dance to some of Mommy's music. He thought that sounded like a good idea. At least I think that's what that huge smile and nod meant.
It's been an amazing year with twins. I didn't think I could do it, didn't think I could handle it, but here we are, a year later...now we just have to survive the twos and threes, lol. I think I'm up for the challenge. It's been hard, difficult and tiring, but I wouldn't change it for anything. It's been awesome seeing how two little people have developed and how differently they've done so. I am very thankful for my opportunity with them and have had a lot of fun. I know it's just going to get more fun and exciting as the years go on...and more tiring at times and expensive at times...but isn't that true for any kids singletons or multiples. Bring on the next year! I'm ready, excited and can't wait to see what they learn next!

You know you're a good mom when...
Ok so I have been neglecting my blog. I apologize. I know that a lot has been going on in the world of Twins. Old news, Frankie is walking. He is walking a lot! He is starting to practice running even. Which brings us to last Sunday. We went downtown Vancouver to visit the new Library building. It is 5 stories tall and floor to ceiling windows. I mean ground floor to 5th story ceiling windows. So when Frankie first discovered the windows, it was no big deal. We were on the 3rd floor in the children's area...omg the children's area...I will get back to that. Anyway, the third floor hangs over the entrance on the first floor a little bit and Jerrod was down in the little cafe area reading some homework. I don't know if Frankie could really see him down there or not, but while Lucy was exploring the display behind us, he and I were discussing the fact that Daddy was down there, and I was trying to point him out. Frankie thought this was really really cool.
Ok, the children's area. Serra and I took the babies up there and the first thing we saw was the check out area and the rows of computers on kid sized desks. I failed to notice right away the really bright little lights in the floor. I thought they were cool, Jerrod thought they were silly, lol. To each their own. There was a room off to the right on the end where you can go and close the door and have some play time if you wanted. I thought that was also pretty cool. And then we turned around and went the other way. OMG the colors and all the stuff! They had a station for every letter of the alphabet where you could go and play and interact and again, it was all bright colors. There were big teepees they could climb around in, there was a play kitchen, tables the right height for the babies with dangly things underneath for the crawlers, there was a big table that made music if you had more than one person. Well, it was easier if you had more than one person, but yea. There was this structure that had changing colored lights in it with one side magnetic and all these gears on magnets and stuff to move around and play with, a teepee thing with cool wooden blocks that were more like frames with colors and textures in the middle of them that the light could shine through and they were so pretty. It was enclosed so that you couldn't take any blocks anywhere else or throw them at people or anything, there were holes in the plexi-glass for hands to go into and you could build things and then there was a wheel to turn that made a sweeper arm go around and knock it all down and push the blocks back to the outside again. Frankie really wanted to take a block out, but couldn't get it through the hole, lol.
And then the oops happened. We were back on the other side again playing with the teepees and the area around when something outside caught Frankie's attention. I don't know if it was the different view, the car going by on the street, the rain, or the person on the other side of the street walking by, maybe there was a bird flying by, but he took off at a run towards the windows. He's one, they're floor to ceiling, the outdoors was on the other side, he was "in the air" three stories up, it seemed like a good idea to him at any rate. At the worst possible second, his little uncoordinated body pitched forward. I saw it happening, I rushed forward, I reached out for him, his jacket slipped through my fingers and his face smacked into the metal frame that went up the window, right on the corner. I can still see it in my mind, I can still hear the thud. It was awful! He started screaming of course. I picked up him and consoled him and really got him to calm down pretty quickly. It started to bruise immediately. When I got up the courage to gently touch it, there was something hard in there and didn't feel right to me. I panicked. I rushed to the elevator, Frankie in my arms, Serra had Lucy....I think I was pushing the empty stroller, but we got to the elevator, went down to the first floor and Jerrod wasn't where I had seen him before. I started to panic again. And because I was in panic mode, I ended up looking right at him and not seeing him at first. Finally I zeroed in and rushed up to him. Frankie is still quiet at this point, his face is all blue and purple, Jerrod takes him from me and checks him out and he's just fine. I was afraid his face was broken or something in my panic, not thinking that gee, if it was that bad, I would not have been able to calm him down, he would not let me touch it and he would not be smiling at his daddy. Ok, I am silly, he's fine, now I needed to figure out how to stop shaking! Jerrod had a little bit of reading left, so we went back upstairs and I corralled the babies in one of the alphabet play areas and we waited for him. Frankie didn't seemed fine, but I was really super protective of him for the rest of the day/evening. His face is looking better now, though it's finally starting to turn green. It stayed that deep purple for days! I need to get another picture of it so that I can post it.
So that was our adventure last weekend. Tuesday afternoon, about 4ish, Lucy suddenly started to sound very worried. I turned to look at her and she rushed over to the end of the play yard that I was at and was making I want you noises and reaching out to me, all the while sounding really worried. This was odd and I climbed in there with her to reassure her and to see if I could figure out what was wrong. See seemed a little better having me in there and had sat down where she was reaching for me when I was outside the pen. Suddenly her eyes got big, she whimpered and as I reached for her, she thew up. Then she really wanted mommy. I patted her back for a minute, said reassuring things, waited for her to finish and then sent Serra off for a wash rag. Lucy wanted me to pick her up, so I did and she immediately buried her now dirty face into my chest. I am so thankful that I was wearing a t-shirt and not a tank top that day. And then she threw up again. Yep, all over my chest. She ended up doing that several times through out the next 3 hours, but she only "ruined" the one shirt. The rest of the time, she had her blankie on my chest or a towel. She dozed a little off and on on my chest. Jerrod got home about 7 or so, then an hour or so later, K was in the bathroom, then a couple more hours, Frankie and Serra were throwing up and then an hour after that, Jerrod was hit with it. Poor Frankie, this throwing up business really scares him. I mean, he threw up on me that first time and he was standing up, arms thrown up, screaming, didn't want to hug me, he was mortified. I got him calmed down though and he threw up on my on the towel on my chest a few more times and he was better. By the time I had everyone comfortable, everyone in bed asleep it was 3am. I was tired, head-achy and a little bit queasy but didn't feel like I was going to be sick necessarily. I mean, heck I had been thrown up on like 10 times. The next morning, I felt like crap. I was lucky enough to avoid the throwing up part of this little adventure and on MY day two, I seem to be feeling pretty good. I am weak, I lost 6-8 pounds in the last 24 hours, so I can't do much. I am trying, I mean, there's stuff to do! There's a lot of laundry of course, and the bathroom needs a little cleaning, but I'm taking it slow. Matthew was hit with it last night. He stayed home today, but doesn't seem all that bad. Serra stayed home as well, because she was having a really upset stomach again last night. I figured it's better safe than sorry by keeping her home today. That way she is less likely to share. I haven't seen Mike today. I don't know if that means he's down with it now too or not. He is home. His car is here. I haven't seen K either. I guess it hit her really bad. So far, I think I got off pretty easy with just feeling crappy and having to visit the toilet often. Especially with having been thrown up on so many times. Ah you know you're a mom when, your child throws up on you and then immediately wants a hug. Yea, Mommies are awesome.

Screaming, Teething, and Crawling.....Oh My.
Jerrod started a new job about 3 weeks ago. Since then, the babies sleeping habits have gone right out the window. Lucy particulary seems to be having issues and likes to see how much sleep she can keep mommy from getting. I do think though that part of the issue has to be with teething. Those poor babies have been drooling and fussing for months now and still have no teeth.
Last night, Lucy kept falling asleep and then waking a few hours later, screaming her little head off. Needless to say, that woke Frankie and while I actually had Lucy back to sleep in half an hour, Frankie stayed up another two hours and 15 minutes, putting me once again going to bed after the two o'clock hour. I have been so tired the last couple weeks! The three of us have been cranky.....I can't wait for those teeth to finally come in!
And on a more fun note, Frankie has started crawling of sorts. He is fun to watch, but having said that, he has done his more serious actual crawling only when Mommy isn't in the room. The little booger won't do his real crawling for me! The one who's home with him all the time, who gets up with him when he wakes, who is always there. Nope, don't get to see it. Thanks Buddy. I'm hoping he will show off his new skills for everybody this Sunday.
Lucy isn't so much into the crawling yet. It's funny how I have been told that their lack of tummy time or that they could have had more tummy time, etc is causing them to develop slower than other babies. All babies are different. Case in point, Frankie, the one who hated tummy time and objected to it loudly all the time and there for got a lot less of it is the one crawling. Miss Lulu, the one who loved tummy time, is more content to sit and watch and talk. So far she says Mama, a version of Puppy, ball and a few other babbles that I haven't quite figured out what she means yet. She love to sit up though and will do so happily for hours watching her brother move around her. She does not like it when he tries to occupy the same space as her though. =)

An Introduction.
I am the mother of four children. Matthew is turning 15 this month, Serra is 12, and the twins Lucy and Frankie are 8 months old. I am starting this blog to share my adventures as a mom with family and friends who I recently had to leave behind when I moved to Washington.
I have been married for 15 and a half years now to Jerrod. We recently moved in with his parents due to financial issues and so that he can continue his schooling. Money is tight, kids are active, I don't get out of the house much anymore...what's a mom to do?
