Wow, a whole year has gone by since I became a member in a growing less exclusive club. I still can't believe sometimes that I had TWO babies at the same time. It still amazes me. They amaze me. They have grown from little tiny helpless babies to two active toddlers. Though Lucy isn't walking unassisted yet, she has taken about four steps on her own so far. Frankie is just going ahead full steam and is a bit advanced in my opinion. Thinking back on Matthew and Serra, they weren't walking and running on their first birthdays. Lucy is a climber like her sister though. She was the first one to figure out how to climb up on the ride on toy and she was actually hanging halfway up the play yard side on her toes the other day. She did that with the ride on toy too though. Stepped off it and hooked her toes in. She was so proud of herself.
Lucy is starting to talk too. She says "Ow" when she wants out of her crib or play yard or high chair....or anything really, lol. She says Mommy and Daddy and puppy and i'm pretty sure she said Daisy the other day. I have heard her say Grandpa a couple times too. She's figured out that if Mommy is walking by and she would like more Cheerios in her bowl, she just has to pick it up and hand it to me. Frankie is taking his time more with the talking. Though he also says Mommy and Daddy, his are still more Mama and Dada and of course he says Nigh nigh when he's ready for bed or a nap. I guess he says that when he wants a bottle too. Speaking of bottles. Lucy hasn't had a bottle in a month and a half. She is still drinking a little bit of formula, but she does so from a sippy cup. Frankie still needs one at bedtime. He really complains most nights if you try to put him to bed with out one. We're getting there and next month, they should be completely off the formula. Nice!
They have gotten to the stage too where they look like little miniature people now and not so much like babies. They are toddlers for sure. The 18 month clothes they got for their birthday fit them pretty good. The sleeves and pant legs are still a tad long, but not in a bad way.
Both babies have been giving hugs. Frankie especially loves to give hugs. He has always been the more lovey of the two of them. He has also discovered the joys of music. He's been interested in rhythm and drumming for a while now, but now he's started dancing. He loves to dance! Grandma has been playing a lot of country music this last week that he's been dancing to. Monday I will have the house to myself for a few hours so I told him we would dance to some of Mommy's music. He thought that sounded like a good idea. At least I think that's what that huge smile and nod meant.
It's been an amazing year with twins. I didn't think I could do it, didn't think I could handle it, but here we are, a year later...now we just have to survive the twos and threes, lol. I think I'm up for the challenge. It's been hard, difficult and tiring, but I wouldn't change it for anything. It's been awesome seeing how two little people have developed and how differently they've done so. I am very thankful for my opportunity with them and have had a lot of fun. I know it's just going to get more fun and exciting as the years go on...and more tiring at times and expensive at times...but isn't that true for any kids singletons or multiples. Bring on the next year! I'm ready, excited and can't wait to see what they learn next!
